This election will likely be decided in the Primary on May 17th since ALL candidates are Republicans...

Like it or not, we are all republicans...  with a small "r".  This is because as a Borough, as a State, and as a Nation we are not a true Democracy, but a 'representative' form of Democracy called a republic, or republicanism.  We do not all vote on issues, we vote on people; People who hopefully represent us.  Fact is, we typically vote for people we know and like; we only hope and pray that for 4 years they represent us.  

The big question is, How do we know?   There is an age-old axiom; "The best predictor of the near future is the recent past."  Where someone will stand on future issues can be predicted by where they stand on current issues and where they stood on past issues.  How they will behave and decide on issues in the future can be predicted by how they behaved and decided on issues before.  That's a scary thought if you elect a 'follower'...

Ask.  Ask not only where they stood or stand, but how they went about deciding.  How they decided can, and likely will, be repeated on new issues.  Otherwise how you will be represented is a crap-shoot and a prayer.

At Indian Lake we have another issue; only 1/3 of the property owners get to vote on our representatives.

Please take your vote seriously.  Elect good listeners and strong objective decision-makers.  Otherwise the odds of us looking anything like a true Democracy are slim.
